TG Omori, a Nigerian filmmaker and cinematographer, has talked candidly about his health experience and kidney transplant. He revealed that his brother gave him a kidney before medical professionals determined it was not a match.
In an interview, Omori described the difficulties in finding a suitable donor. Eventually, he said, his brother came forward to donate his kidney.
However, the donated kidney proved incompatible with his body.
After nine months of searching for a donor, my brother donated his kidney to me. He claimed, "The doctor told me it wasn't a match and my body wasn't accepting it after the transplant was successful." Before his family could locate a suitable donor for a second transplant, Omori continued, he had to wait an additional six months.
He also disclosed that his sibling only had one kidney as a result of the event. Before it was successful, we had to find another donor who could match after waiting for an additional six months. My brother now has to live with just one kidney," he continued.
